Four kidnappers have been shot dead at Busunu in the West Gonja Municipality of Savanah region. The kidnappers all of Fulani descent kidnapped a four-year-old boy from Kidendilenpa, a farming community near Busunu and demanded ransom from his parents.
While negotiations on the amount to pay was ongoing, the kidnappers gave an option to take away the kidnapped parents cattle if they can’t afford the amount demanded. The parents having realized the situation was becoming serious put together a search team to look for the little boy.
While in search, the team run into the kidnappers in the bush who began to fire at the search team. The search team also returned fire killing the four kidnappers at the spot. Bodies of the deceased have since been conveyed by the police and deposited at West Gonja District Hospital morgue for preservation, identification and autopsy.
Kidnapping of Fulanis by their colleagues in the Savannah region has been on a rise lately. Two weeks ago, a young girl was rescued by police at Daboya in the North Gonja District from some two Fulani kidnappers who are currently at large.
