Let’s not be deceived by the numbers, Covid-19 is still there – Mahama Ayariga

Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga has urged Ghanaians not to be deceived by the figures of Covid-19 cases displayed on the Ghana Health Service website. According to him, Covid is still amongst us and everyone needs to continue adhering strictly to the safety protocols.

He noted that Ghana has not achieved its Covid vaccination target yet therefore the country is still not safe from the virus.

“When you see Joe Biden and his people walking without masks, its because they have achieved their vaccination target. Its not the same in Ghana. We don’t have enough vaccines for everyone yet, many people want to vaccinate but there are no enough vaccines”, Mr. Ayariga said.

He was speaking to the demand made by the minority in parliament for president Akufo Addo to apologize to Ghanaians for the breach of covid protocols at the burial ceremony of former general secretary of NPP, Sir John which he (the president) was in attendance.

Mr. Ayariga believes that an apology is not too much to ask from the president if other citizens have been prosecuted for breaching mass gathering restrictions. He indicated that, an apology from the president or the NPP party will send a signal to citizens that, covid is not over yet and therefore the restrictions are still in place.

“NPP as a party or the president should apologise to send a message to Ghanaians that covid is not over yet. I don’t think its too much to ask for from the president”.

He bemoaned how people continue to hold funerals in large numbers, calling for a continuous sensitization of the virus.

Mr. Ayariga was speaking on GH Today on Ghone Television monitored by Ghdailynewsupdate.com.
